We will offer you a 6-12 week paid internship within either a government department or agency, so that you can experience what it’s like to be a government communicator in the Civil Service. You will take part in an exciting programme of training and development, including an induction into the GCS, training sessions, and various networking opportunities.

Salary: £350 per week for candidates up to 22-years-old. Candidates who are over 22-years-old will be paid in line with the National Living Wage

As a GCS intern you will have an interest in current affairs, enjoy working with pace and using insights to find the best channels to communicate with different groups of stakeholders. You will have the opportunity to work across a wide range of communications disciplines, from marketing and campaigns, to social media and evaluation.

Whether you are helping to communicate the government’s Build Back Better plan; or contributing to campaigns and guidance that support our NHS, an internship in government communications will give you the opportunity to begin a challenging and fulfilling career.

Your career might start in a busy press team; or you could be asked to contribute to exciting new ideas and real issues that affect real people.
