We are currently seeking an experienced agriculture specialist to join this team in the role of Regional Agriculture Director for the North of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The Regional Agriculture Director is responsible for development and delivery of Agricultural specialism growth strategy and thought leadership in the sector. Working with the UK Head of Agriculture in establishing the strategy for growth with the Regional Directors and Regional Leadership Team to execute that strategy.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Sector authority and HSBC ambassador, with responsibility for development of regional and national profile and speaker at key events where an agriculturalist rather than a banker is appropriate.
  • Key member of national agricultural leadership team and strategic advisor to the UK Head of Agriculture on bank’s Agriculture Strategy
  • Key member of regional agricultural leadership team and strategic advisor to the Regional Head of Agriculture and Regional Director on business development opportunities
  • Targeted joint prospecting, with identified high-value prospects where Agricultural knowledge will differentiate us from the market place.
  • Second relationship point for high-value relationships where expert agricultural knowledge is highly valued.
  • Provide specialist farm business knowledge to the bank’s credit assessment procedure for new and existing customers, including monitoring of distressed lending cases
  • Recruitment and succession planning for the agriculture team, in collaboration with Regional Head of Agriculture
  • Developing, training and coaching of all agricultural team members in respect of sector knowledge and expertise. Ensuring we treat customers fairly and see improving engagement levels as measured by IPSOS-MORI
  • Provide industry updates, and advise on food chain opportunities in wider CMB business
  • Deliver specialist sector training and coaching to current UK and offshore teams to ensure specialist knowledge maintained.
  • Contribute towards strategic thinking, knowledge transfers and development of evolving themes such as impact on the business from the UK’s exit from Europe, sustainability, and government policy changes
  • Assist in the development of agricultural specific products and procedures
  • Support the wider CMB population with any client or strategic change where agricultural expertise would be beneficial.

 

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • A proven understanding and in-depth knowledge of the agricultural sector and farm business management
  • Extensive network of contacts within the agricultural sector
  • A passion for sustainability and understanding of the green agenda
  • Ability to capture, analyse and interpret comprehensive information and/or customer requirements to provide solutions that are commercially viable and sustainable.
  • Build effective networks across business areas, developing relationships based on mutual trust and encouraging others to do the same 
  • Planning and organisational skills to manage the unexpected as well as anticipated issues or events, so that success can still be achieved
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, enabling productive dialogue with internal and external customers
  • Influencing skills and ability to build positive working relationships with our customers, colleagues and stakeholders
  • Ability to identify customer needs and make appropriate referrals or present suitable solutions through in-depth relevant conversations

Formal banking knowledge and experience is not a pre-requisite. Full training and support will be provided.

The base location for this role is flexible however there will be a requirement to travel and attend face to face client meetings in the following areas, North of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Attendance at National agricultural events will be required.
