Human Resources leads the implementation of the Group’s people strategy in line with business objectives. It facilitates talent management, succession planning and employee mobility while defining and overseeing frameworks that support employee performance management, reward, learning and development, resourcing and engagement. 

We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our team as a Head of Human Resources (HR) Strategic Planning, working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets. 

Role Purpose

The Head of Human Resources (HR) Strategic Planning will be responsible for leading the HR Strategy Office, working with the CHRO, HR Executive Committee (ExCo) and Head of HR Strategy and Transformation to define and set the strategic priorities for the function.

In this role, you will:

  • Review broader business strategy to determine talent implications and define the HR strategic plan
  • Ensure HR leadership teams are informed and wider people strategy and plans are aligned and connected
  • Lead engagement with the HR leadership team to define, develop and maintain the HR 3 – 5year strategic plan
  • Lead key Group / Global strategic priorities for the HR function, including establishing and uplifting Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) capability for HR alongside wider people considerations
  • Manage updates to the GEC, Board, and other committees as required on Talent and HR strategy
  • Lead input / review of broader updates in relation to HR and Talent strategy e.g. ESG and ARA reporting
  • Lead the HR interlock with Group Strategy, Group Transformation, Reputation and Brand, and Communications to ensure Talent / People implications and plans are fully integrated with wider Group plans and initiatives
  • Identify, agree, and manage key external partnerships in support of HSBC’s people strategy

Requirements

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Interpreting and setting strategy, including facilitation of senior leadership through strategic planning
  • Understanding / appreciation of future HR / workforce trends to inform people considerations and priorities
  • Highly organized with excellent communication and writing (paper and presentation) skills
  • Knowledge of HR and People strategy and planning is preferred
