About this role
Engineering is a large multi-disciplined ‘professional services’ engineering practice. The team is organised in key customer focused capabilities which each have sub-capability areas comprising single or multiple engineering delivery projects.
Our Engineering mantra is “Technical Excellence in Engineeringâ€, and we deliver some amazing technical capabilities for our customers which can only happen if we recruit, train, and support our people
The purpose of this role is to Support the GSS organisation by delivering customer networks, platforms, and systems in support of ourselves and special customers.

Capable of taking customer requirements and architecting a cost-effective IP network to meet those functional and non-functional requirements.
Demonstrates a good understanding of network management, network operations, optical transport networks and cyber-security to work with other engineers and managers specialising in those areas to deliver a complete working solution.
Can estimate performance and scaling requirements and then identify and select cost-effective network devices that meet those requirements. Able to take network design and cost data and convert this into financial cost models in support of the programme management team; can similarly estimate design, test, and deployment effort requirements for network delivery.

IPv4 routing for resilient, medium- to large-scale networks, e.g., OSPF or IS-IS; BGP.
Firewall/IPS configuration and rule management.
Network device security, configuration hardening and vulnerability management.
First-hop security functions (e.g., DHCP snooping, IEEE 802.1X).
Data centre switching for virtualised compute (e.g., VMware).
