About this role

We need faster, more flexible architecture to allow us to provide outstanding customer experience. This role will be responsible for helping us understand, design, architect, exploit and innovate across all aspects of our Digital landscape. As we move further into an agile development and delivery model, part of this role will provide the direction on standard patterns and guard rails to balance common technology services with speed to market.

Optimisation of Architecture strategy will pivot from siloed-based project approach to world-leading platform capabilities, providing both the broad and deep design patterns along with practical steps that will acceleration BTs Digital Transformation.

You'll have the following responsibilities

Advocate an approach that will embed SRE principles and security standards throughout the whole delivery life cycle.

Adhere to change management, Security and other established procedures.

Report trends and tracking of targets to achieve best optimisation.

 Implement reusable and reliable approaches for automation, covering a variety of automation scenarios.

Contribute to infrastructure patterns to ensure that SRE and security principles are adopted and embedded as best practise.

Collaborate with development and engineering teams to understand pain points and where SRE can improve to remove toil and manual repetitive tasks.

Establishes and maintains key performance indicators for the overall health of the service.

Own improvement projects and plan long term project work.

Provide regular reporting on issues, trends and progress to stakeholders.

Focussing on service reliability and stability contributing to increased customer satisfaction.

You'll have the following skills & experience

Mandatory:

 

Proven team player across direct, virtual and peer teams.

Experience of working with delivery teams at key stages of the life cycle.

Relevant experience with a strong technical background  and exposure to end to end delivery life cycles. 

 

Desirable:

A good working knowledge of the Integration stack which can be put to good use to get to the true root cause of issues.

Excellent knowledge in distributed architecture, Cloud, microservices, SOA, IaaS and PaaS.

Good working knowledge of Security Compliance systems (SACS).

Experience of Agile and Test Driven Development (TDD) methodologies.

 Use of Machine Learning & AI to implement self-healing systems.

Experience of drive Dev Ops culture with focus on automation, self-healing flows.
