About this role
We’re a Digital team of over 600 with 160 of those people in the Design team. Design is divided into feature teams: Product Design, Content Design and SEO, Research and Accessibility and Design Ops.
As an experienced, self-motivated Product Designer, with strong UX and UI skills, you will take ownership of the end-to-end experience. Leading design within your squad, collaborating with the wider team from discovery and research, workshops and ideation activities, sketching and prototyping - all the way to the final deliverables.
You will also be encouraged to influence product backlogs, ensuring that every decision and every experience adds value to our customers and achieves our business goals. In addition to this you will continually optimise user experience, based on customer behaviour and data.
You'll have the following responsibilities
- Improve the user experience of a product from conception to launch – Through collaboration & partnership with product managers, engineers, user researchers and content designers.
- Within BT’s design systems and standards, you will contribute to the design of end-to-end user flows and experiences.
- Implement strategic decisions around the future direction of BT’s products and wider product design strategy.
- Craft digital-first experiences, typically using existing solutions that achieve commercial goals.
- Promote a user-centred way of thinking and working across the business.
- Support the implementation of continuous improvement opportunities to improve the design team processes, ensuring a consistent and coherent process to manage design quality and collaboration across teams.
- Develops user experience designs and prototypes at any level of fidelity needed independently, while being as lean and outcome focused as possible.
You'll have the following skills & experience
- Strong portfolio of work demonstrating a user centred and data driven design approach.
- Successful track record of delivering end-to-end design projects within an AGILE, multi-disciplined delivery team.
- Proven commercial experience of accessibility management considerations, effective user journey mapping and wider strategic vision around user experience.
- Expert in user experience influenced interaction design and user interface design (UX/UI) – Preferably following LEAN principles.
- Demonstratable understanding of user centred research (focus groups, workshops) and the ability to use that data to influence the creation of elegant prototypes.
