The Mobile Innovation Labs build the test environments for all BT and EE's mobile products and services prior to them going live. This means we work at the leading edge of technology in a rapidly changing environment. Once the product or service is tested and rolled out into Live, we retain that service in Labs, so the Labs remain live, aligned, and maintain configuration integrity.

We are looking to work with a Senior Mobile Labs Environment Manager who will support the Director of Mobile and the Senior Manager of Innovation Labs by being accountable, on behalf of your team, for all project engagement and delivery generated by our stakeholders, internal and external to BT.

As the Senior Mobile Labs Environment Manager, you will be reporting to the Head of Mobile Labs while based in any of our Bristol, London, Birmingham, or Borehamwood office with an occasional travel requirement. 

You'll have the following responsibilities

The Senior Mobile Labs Environment Manager will develop and maintain strategic relationships with key business customers/stakeholders to understand their roadmaps and priority, establish and maintain clear communication channels for reporting.

As we move to a higher level of automation and agility, you will effectively contribute to the definition, implementation and ongoing evolution of an operating model for the Labs in support of internal and external customers of BT. You will also ensure that the financial and resource controls are in place so Labs can effectively meet all its delivery commitments.

In addition, you will ensure you get the best out of your team by communicating with them, inspiring them, ensuring they are highly motivated, clear on what is expected of them and why; all the time ensuring that they have the tools to achieve and potentially exceed this expectation.  Likewise, you will manage poor performance and recognise exceptional performance throughout your team. 

You'll have the following essential skills & experience

• The breadth of technical experience across all domains in mobile (2G/3G/4G/5G and 5GSA) and fixed communication technologies, not excluding IT systems. 
• An understanding of the use of CI/CD and automation in mobile networks.
• Ability to plan and prioritise you and your team’s workload in a fast-paced business.
• Good understanding of project management principles and AGILE delivery.
• A proven track record of working in a senior position within a technical organisation.
• An experience of managing a team with diverse capabilities in demanding environments.
• Proven experience of managing stakeholders, 3rd party suppliers and / or managed service partners
• Ability to engage and deliver via AGILE and/or waterfall engagements.
• Experience of allocating and directing a budget for part of a business.
• Experience in effectively handling a difficult people issues– redundancy, disciplinary, re-organisation.

The following skills & experience are nice to have

• Evidence of successful negotiating skills, particularly around changing stakeholders' opinions.
• Proven experience in a 24*7*365 operational environment or non-production environment.
• Experience with regulatory policy and process.
• Technology experience, preferably in a Test and integration role.
