This role supports the delivery of mobile solutions for our customers. This role will look at the feasibility of sites for customer mobile solutions. It will proactively assess assets and sites to be able to make the best recommendations to our customers on appropriate locations to maximise service and fully meet the customer requirements.  The key purpose of the role is to make sure every customer gets the best possible data centre that meets the customer requirements service from the initial request for help through until the issue is resolved. Where problems occur, taking ownership to quickly fix them whilst keeping our customer fully up to date with progress.

 

This role is accountable for the design of all data centres including upgrades. You'll have the following responsibilities

  • Provide the technical design on bespoke new builds. Providing technical expertise and support for all strategic planning of site/node locations including expanding space, power and cooling capacity and Provide alternative solutions where the customer’s design requirements cannot be completed.
  • Providing design expertise over bespoke locate programmes ensuring that all the break down elements in the design phase are agreed and are designed on time and to the budget.
  • Ensure design adheres to all legal requirements and also meets compliance to BT infrastructure installation standards.
  • The role is fully accountable for the data centre design. Provide oversight of activities being undertaken by both the delivery and In-Life team.
  • Provide CDM registrations with responsibility to issue F10 to HSE. To provide and control AutoCAD drawings and updates.
  • Control the Locate delivery SNAP processes. To provide full control of PIRM & PEMP records across the Locate Estate and provide reports as required.
  • Issue and provide job packs to all contractors working on the BT estate and Manage and control Locate purchasing and invoicing with 3rd party suppliers.
  • Support the delivery relationship between BT Wholesale and customers and help to anticipate their current and future demands. To attend, as necessary, Customer Meetings reporting on Technical/design Issues.

You'll have the following skills & experience

  • Ability to manage expectations and the level of stakeholder engagement. Ability to manage complex relationships within, and externally to, the locate platform. Individual to be customer focussed, with particular attention to ensure that we understand the customer requirements correctly.
  • Able to interpret relevant requirements and apply at a site and project level to ensure correct governance is maintained through project life cycle, and handover to Delivery.
  • Experience of logical & creative thinking to reach a solution and Able to express ideas, explanations or opinions in a way that is appropriate to the situation, and understandable to audience.
  • Presentation and engagement skills for an appropriate audience, taking complex data and presenting this simply and effectively. Good organisational skills, highly motivated with the ability to prioritise, manage and collaborate with other sales and delivery team to ensure that customer issues are successfully executed and brought to closure.
  • Technical skills in Mechanical & electrical and infrastructure in BT’s network areas in the operational estate. Specialist in power & cooling specifically Standby generation and AC infrastructure and its implementation and operation in networks and datacentres. A detailed working knowledge of BT’s power estate including AC &DC power systems.
  • Understand principles of the bespoke contracts, T&C's, understanding the vendor management contract and strategy.  Working within BT instructions. Understand obligations under the contract and Knowledge of industry H&S standards/ law as it applies to the role and an understanding of finance structures and reporting systems, in particular iBuy.
  • Solid academic electrical services engineering background Working towards or already certified to current IEE regulations BS7671. Electrical Regulations and Electricity and Work Act during course of all work and follow ISIS BES/ESV.
  • Proven delivery track record of infrastructure project design and Comfortable in developing your expertise into emerging technology areas with minimal training.
