We have around 1.2 million customers and serve over half the FTSE 350. Our customers range from big household names, government departments and public service organisations, right through to small businesses and start-ups. We cover both the communications and IT services markets. Overall, we’re focused on four main product markets: Fixed Voice; Mobility; Fibre and connectivity; networked IT services provided over the biggest UK network in both fixed and mobile communications. We also provide network IT services to corporate and public sector organisations in the Republic of Ireland. Our Wholesale business helps communications providers (CPs) and other organisations provide fixed or mobile phone services. Our ventures provide mass-market services like directory enquiries and payphones, and enterprise services including Fleet Solutions and BT Redcare. We also offer specialist enterprise services to our ‘internet of things’ customers.

In this job, you’ll be responsible for setting up and improving all Agile processes across Digital. You’ll live and breath build, measure, learn and you will have a deep relationship with the scrum masters and product owners. You’ll be responsible for making sure that we constantly improve processes to ensure the vehicles of product delivery are faster so that the Digital team creates the best experiences that enhance our customers’ lives.

You'll have the following responsibilities

• Coach and train Tribe Leads, Tribe Technical Leads and members of the squads on Agile best practices

• Be a role model for agile development within the organization, ensuring that all stakeholders understand the agile principles and the part they need to play to contribute to successful delivery.

• Shape the continuous improvement  mindset of the organisation, create high-performing squads focused on customer centricity and value, foster self-organisation and collaboration

• Coach and provide tailored expertise across multiple teams to assess and uplift Agile maturity (e.g. clear alignment with goals, breaking down work consistently, savvy backlog management, servant leadership mindset, etc.)

• Curate and deliver Agile capability uplift (working with our Scrum Masters) across the Tribe and broader BT (e.g. training, custom workshops, coaching, mentoring, value stream analysis, etc.)

• Leverage the Scrum Master community to identify systemic (pan-BT) inhibitors of agile ways of working and drive the resolution of these to enable the successful scaling of agile delivery

• Work with other Agile Coaches to establish and evolve BT Agile frameworks and guidance, and improve the application of Agile practices across BT 

• Share Agile Industry trends and best practices, and contribute thought leadership to our internal community as well as influencing external Agile communities and standards

• Coaching: Demonstrated coaching ability, with a strong servant leadership philosophy; strong understanding of the differences between coaching, mentoring, teaching.

• Agile Frameworks: Extensive or subject-matter expert understanding of the principles, components and features of Agile frameworks, with a continuous learning approach to new concepts and best practices.

• Stakeholder management: ability to manage and influence stakeholders with competing priorities

• Systems Thinking: Extensive experience analysing and connecting concepts across the entirety of a system (e.g. E2E value stream) to understand how value flows through the system, and diagnose and resolve complex issues

• SDLC: Demonstrated understanding of the software development lifecycle and technical change delivery

• Coaching Certification preferred (ICP-ACC / CAL / Barefoot Coaching)

• SAFe SPC certification is preferred

You'll have the following skills & experience

• Experience or equivalent in a role of Scrum Master, Product Owner 

Experience you would be expected to have

Practical experience of Agile methodologies and scaling frameworks 

Track record of delivering cross-functional transformation using Agile 

Experience of Agile coaching is preferred

Extensive coaching experience, with a strong servant leadership philosophy

Extensive experience fostering and empowering high performing teams 

Demonstrated thought-leadership in Agile ways of working (e.g. external blogs, community-building, meetup facilitator, conference speaker, etc.) is preferred, but not essential

Proven track record of large scale agile transformation in complex organisations is preferred, but not essential
