You need experience to obtain a job, but you also need experience to acquire a job... How do you get your foot on the rung of the ladder? Whether you're fresh out of college or seeking to change careers, thinking like you don't have the expertise to obtain your first job can be discouraging. So, here are some methods for doing the (apparently) impossible: getting a job with no expertise!
Take care of the problem

Experience is vital, but so is your work attitude, personality, grasp of the firm and its activities, motivation, resilience, future plans - the list is limitless, so don't get too caught up on any one element.
Discover skills you didn't realise you have.

Consider your previous work and try to make connections between the experience you require and the experience you already have. Make a speculative application.

If you just apply for posted positions, you will be evaluated based on predetermined criteria. Apply speculatively to firms that interest you, demonstrating that you've done your homework, and asking whether there are any prospects for you to break into the industry. If the response is no, inquire whether you can reapply in 6 months and what you can do in the interim to increase your chances.
Obtain an interview
