There are multiple ways to earn money as a student, but nothing beats a good old-fashioned part-time job. In fact, according to our most recent Student Money Survey, 66% of you rely on one to cover your daily living expenses.

Aside from the fact that employment is typically a more consistent source of income than the majority of other easy ways to generate money, adding some experience to your CV can help you stand out in a crowded and competitive job market.

What, however, are the top paying part-time jobs for students? To answer that question, CV-Library analysed part-time job advertisements across the UK to uncover the highest mean earnings – and here's what they discovered...

1.Labourer

Hourly wage range: £10.83–£11.88

The phrase 'Labourer' refers to a variety of occupations. You may be working in construction, pruning shrubs, washing windows... there are so many possibilities!

Again, if you dislike working in an office and want to be on your feet all day, this is an excellent method to get job outside. In case you hadn't guessed, these jobs require a lot of manual labour, so be prepared to get your hands dirty.

Remember that these are all listed jobs in which you will be employed by a company. There are other ways to make money as a student, such as working as a teacher or freelance writer - the possibilities are nearly limitless!

2.Support Worker

Hourly wage range: £9.55 – £12.26

There's no getting around the reality that working in care, even as a Support Worker, is a physically and mentally demanding profession. You'll need compassion, patience, sensitivity, and, most importantly, a genuine want to help people - if you don't have these qualities, this isn't the job for you.

But if you can check all of those boxes, this is a profession worth pursuing, especially because it's one of the highest-paying part-time jobs for students.

3.Delivery Driver

Hourly wage range: £10.22–£11.17

Customer Delivery Drivers are in charge of transporting people's goods to their front door, from online food orders to Amazon shipments.

While groceries must be delivered in a specific, refrigerated truck, many other items purchased online just require a vehicle of any kind to transport them from point A to point B. Keeping this in mind, some organisations would even hire you as a Customer Delivery Driver provided you own a car and are willing to use it for the work.

4.Warehouse Operative

Hourly wage range: £9.65–£11.49

Warehouse Operatives spend the most of their time on their feet, moving around the business, rather than sitting behind a desk all day.

This position entails a wide range of duties, but the most of the time you'll be picking and packing stock for delivery, keeping track of stock levels, and loading things onto vehicles.

We've all been frustrated by receiving a delivery only to discover that half of the order is missing – thus, understandably, being diligent and having a keen eye for detail are high on the list of ideal attributes for Warehouse Operatives.

5.Receptionist

Hourly wage range: £9.84 – £10.87

While a Receptionist function is comparable to that of an Administrator, it is more customer-focused. This could be a terrific part-time job for you if you already have excellent communication and organisational abilities.

Your responsibilities will include greeting and directing guests at the front desk, taking and forwarding phone calls, giving visitor badges, and answering questions.

6.Administrator

Hourly wage range: £9.86 – £10.68

A position as an Administrator is ideal for people looking for office experience.

Administrative tasks vary, so you could be organising diaries, handling phone calls, filing paperwork, or sending emails. You'll also be able to add 'organisation,' 'communication,' and possibly 'office admin software' to your CV's list of abilities.

And there are always a plethora of different Administrator opportunities available across various businesses, so you'll most certainly have your choice of the litter.

7.Picker Packer

Hourly wage range: £9.98 – £10.45

Picker Packer jobs entail selecting product from shelves and packing it so that it can be transported. It's typically done in retail or wholesale warehouses, and other responsibilities include labelling boxes and stocking shelves.

You may be required to lift big objects and pay close attention to detail. Furthermore, you will learn how to operate in a fast-paced setting, which is a valuable ability to have on your resume.

8.Customer Service Adviser

Hourly wage range: £9.76 – £10.03

Customer service, oh, customer service. The traditional residence of students looking to supplement their Maintenance Loans. And, for just £10 an hour, it's easy to see why it's so popular!

Your hours may vary based on the type of function you wind up in, and you may provide assistance over the phone, by email, or even in person. But, no matter what medium you're dealing with, you'll almost certainly be assisting clients with refunds or other issues - so having solid people skills will come in handy.

9.Food Production Operative

Hourly wage range: £9.15 - £10.60

As a food production operative, you will assist with food production and packing. Tasks will vary depending on the size of the plant, but they will primarily comprise quality inspecting items, weighing raw materials, operating machines, and generating labels.

This position is ideal for someone who is meticulous in their work. Adding this position to your CV is also an excellent method to demonstrate to future employers that you can work well under pressure.

10.Cleaner

Hourly wage range: £9.01 – £10.61

Being a cleaner speaks for itself - you'll be keeping businesses, houses, hotels, and other establishments spotless. It entails sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, and other tasks.

There are always a lot of temporary, flexible cleaner jobs available, especially if you only need a few hours each week.
